In the Tarot the Hierophant represents that point in anyone's journey when our self-consciousness becomes one with the group consciousness. He is the teacher. The initiates kneel before him with open hearts to offer their individuality to become one with the group.

 

This archetype places value on the teachings and traditions handed us by institutions: schools, medicine, spiritual institutions etc...
